How do I enable 5g on iPhone 12 pro

I just received and setup my new iPhone 12 pro and I have unlimited data and am in the San Francisco Bay Area, which supposedly has 5g through AT&T. In my settings under cellular data options > voice and data I only have the options of 4g and LTE. How do I enable the option of going onto 5g?

There are steps you can take to try to resolve your inability to access 5G on your new iPhone 12 Pro. Allow us to assist.

  • Power your device off, then after several seconds, back on again. This action will reestablish connection to the network.
  • Check for software updates by following these instructions. It's likely your device will need to install the latest version to access 5G network.
  • Visit our 5G Nationwide map to check coverage in your area. Though AT&T is continuing to innovate and invest in our network to expand our 5G coverage to more consumers and businesses across the country, coverage can vary in areas and is subject to change without notice.
