Hotspot does not work with laptop

My wireless hotspot (iPhone 8 Plus) works fine with my iPad (Air Pro), but I get a “no internet” error from my laptop (Dell Inspiron 16 Plus) every time. I have followed the ATT wireless hotspot troubleshooter with no success.

Hello @stutopp, we understand that you're facing issues with your hotspot connecting to your laptop, and we're here to help with this. 


We see that you've mentioned that the hotspot is connecting to your iPad (Air Pro) and it's the laptop that is getting the error. We recommend you troubleshoot your laptop with using the following steps. 


1) A simple restart often resolves most issues. First thing to do is to restart your mobile device as it is the directly responsible for the data share. Next, would be to restart your laptop. This often kills background apps that may be interfering with its ability to connect to the internet. 


2) Ensure your Bluetooth is turned off when using Wi-Fi. Bluetooth turned on while using Wi-Fi generally doesn't allow Wi-Fi to work at its full capacity. 


3) Run the Network adapter troubleshooter. Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot. Scroll down, select Network adapters. Click Run the troubleshooter. When complete, restart to see if it works.


Next, you can confirm if this is a mobile issue or a laptop issue by trying to connect the laptop to a different mobile hotspot. If it doesn't, it may be leaning towards a laptop issue.
