Hot Spot
My cell line has 2GB/month data allowed. I want to use my phone as a hotspot when not in wifi area to be able to use my ipad. I'm getting conflicting responses from ATTcustomer service as to whether it's allowed or not. One said yes, you'll just be using your data up and will incur overage fees if you go past 2 GB usage. The other rep said, no you can't use that line for a hotspot unless you had a minimum of a 5GB/month plan on it. Does anybody have any further insight into this issue?

Are you on a shared data plan or an older minute plan? If it is a shared data plan, yes you can use hotspot. If it is an old minute plan, no. A 5GB plan is required for hotspot on the old minute plans.

@janedoe66 Warning! 2GB can go pretty quick, images and video on your iPad will come in at a larger size. If your phone is not a recent iPhone it might run updates in the background too (the iPad could assume it's on WiFi, which it would be); on a newer iPhone it should be smart enough not to so updates...
