We can definitely help you with group messaging, @janetvanc.

New Advanced Messaging network standards let you share larger files with more than 10 people. We’re rolling out RCS UP 1.0 technology to select smartphones from Samsung, LG and others.

To set up Advanced Messaging open your messaging client and tap menu, then Settings.

  1. Choose Advanced Messaging and tap On
  2. Tap On to send read receipts

Check out the links above for a list of capable phones, information about RCS UP 1.0, and using Advanced Messaging. If you device is not listed yet please check back as the list is growing. Thank you!

I found the above advice yesterday., I have an iPhone 8 that I use for contacting group clients for my non-profit work. It does not appear that I have the option to follow your advice. If I am not enabled yet, I would like to be. "Constructive" below notes that it is 10 for the foreseeable future. Is this true? Please advise.

Yes, @janetvanc.

Ten is the group messaging limit if you do not have an RCS UP 1.0 capable device. Please let us know if we can provide additional support.

How do I figure out if I have a device that is a "RCS UP 1.0 capable device"?

Also, did the limit officially get changes from 10 to another limit? Is there a certain Text App required? Is this the same for Android and iPhone?

I have an iPhone 8 and am unable to send to a group of 12. I tried to follow the instructions but the advanced capabilities were not an option I could find to activate.

Hello @janetvanc,

Thanks for reaching back out to us. That's correct. Apple iPhones do not have the Advanced Messaging feature, so you won't be able to turn this on in your cell phone's messaging settings. There will be a group messaging limit of 10 with MMS text messaging, unless all of the users in your group message thread are using iPhones with iMessage instead. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
