Group Messaging Problem

Group messaging not working properly. Able to send messages, but not receive them - instead, getting "No subject, message size, expires..." unable to download. I have an S20 (Android) and the 5 other people on the group text have iPhones (iOS). Interestingly, my wife is on my ATT plan with me, has an iPhone, and her messages do come through to me successfully on the group messaging. The other people on the group have Verizon. Unsure if this makes a difference. I am able to successfully receive messages from each of the users individually.

Mobile data is on, wifi calling is off, have already tried restarting phone, resetting network settings, having everyone delete the thread and restarting - all to no avail. Let me know any thoughts.

Hey there @malvin!

Let's look into your device's inability to receive group messages. It is recommended that customers experiencing this issue disable then re-enable the MMS/Group messages setting and retest.

Currently, we have experienced a slight delay in some messaging due to increased group messaging and MMS traffic over the network, which is causing latency across all wireless carriers. Network teams are engaged and aware of the situation.

We hope this info helps.

Thanks where is this specific setting on the S20?

It's in your messenger app in the settings.

Also, to att, i have discovered that if i change the preferred network in the *#*#4636#*#* menu to wcdma preferred, the message will download. It refuses to download over LTE.

Hello again @malvin!

Try disabling your Messenger app by following the steps recommended below:

  1. Tap the Recent Apps soft icon (3 vertical lines on the left of the Home button).
  2. Once the Recent Apps screen displays, swipe left or right to look for the app.
  3. Next, swipe up on the app to close it. If it' not there, simply tap the Close All app.

We hope this info helps.
