Group Messaging Not Working on iPhone - AT&T Community Solutions
Learn how to resolve Group Messaging Issues
Having trouble sending a text in a group message? What about just sending a text? Are you missing the conversation? That is never good but we can help with that!
Android users cannot see iPhone Messages
If your previous device was an iPhone and used iMessage. Apple still thinks you have an iPhone and messages are sent to iMessage rather than your Android device and you will need to disable or unregister it.
Disable iMessage to see if the issue persists.
Heads up: If you updated your OS, consider reverting back to the original OS. This may resolve the issue until a patch is created.
How To Restore Group Text Functionality
Fix 1
Close and relaunch the Message app - tap the Home button twice and swipe the Messages app up.
Fix 2
Make sure you have enough space - this will require deleting file like images and videos.
Fix 3
Tap Settings > Scroll down and tap Messages > Scroll down to SMS/ MMS
and disable the feature and then enable it (also known as toggling the feature).
Fix 4
Go to Settings > Tap on General > Scroll down and tap Reset > Select Reset Network Settings > Enter your pass-code > Tap Restart Network Settings
Heads Up: This will delete Wi-FI and network settings on your device.
Fix 5
Delete the group conversation and start a new one - this may or not resolve the issue. You will lose the group conversation. Consider backing up your device beforehand is recommended.

Our entire chat group is having this same issues with group chat that have been identified in all the previous posts. Over the past 2 years this problem has come up, but usually only affecting one of our devices. This past weekend it affected 5 of us. We have 6 iPhone users and 2 androids (both androids use verizon) in the group. The 5 of us who are having the group chat issues are all AT & T customers. I the iPhone user with Sprint has no problems. The fixes have worked for some, but not all of us. One of our chat members has tried the reset over 20 times in the last few days and called AT & T for support. In addition, once some of us were able restore the functionality of the group chat, the 2 android users received our texts on a significant delay (while the iPhone users got them right away).
Seriously AT & T needs to fix the problem or they are going to lose customers.

Thanks for the info. I reached out to a peer a couple of days ago to see if the recent group messaging (Advance Messaging) update could have caused this, that was a no. I'm reached out to another to see if the latest firmware, mentioned earlier by one of the members, could be a possible culprit.
I'm assuming everyone affected is using iMessage?
I'll let you all know what I find out.

for me it is happening when people are NOT on iMessage - all texting, group and otherwise, MMS and SMS is not functional and only impacting people in the group that have iPhones and use AT&T

I am in the same situation as the previous commenter. It is occurring with MMS and SMS in a group texting situation. There is no problem with iMessaging. The group texting spontaneously resolved itself yesterday. Everyone is once again able to communicate through our particular group chat, but a delay of when posts are actually received still occurs.
I do want to iterate that this problem has happened to me at least 3 times in the last 2 years. Spontaneously resolving itself each time after a 48-72 hour period (because the supposed "fixes" don't work). Although I have a friend who also has experienced this issue multiple times - her spontaneous resolution can take up to a week

I do have my iMessage turned on but it only occurs in groups with at least one non iPhone user. I’ve had this issue a few times in the past few months but it usually resolves itself after a couple days. This time it’s still been an issue for almost a week. And when I send more than one text at a time the other people in the group usually only receive one of them if any at all. I agree that this is definitely an issue on at&t’s End. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have at&t experiencing this. Reallly hope this gets fixed soon otherwise I will have no choice but to switch!

I’ve had this problem for over 2 years. I upgraded to the iPhone 7 when it 1st came out, thinking that would resolve the problem, but it didn’t!! I use a few different group text threads and sometimes my phone will be silent for a day, the. The next day I’ll get like 50 new texts all at once- group texts that I missed the day before. AT&T does not know how to resolve the issue. This is unacceptable because some of my chats are business-related, leading me to miss out on important information! The problem is only with AT&T! This smells like a class acrion suit to me!!
