Credit to @Gnatfun1) Go to DirectTVnow2) Click start free trial3) DO NOT immediately type in your email address, etc., to create an account4) DO click on Verify Your Number link to enter your ATT phone number to get your free HBO account5) After typing in your phone number, you receive a text message you need to respond to for verfication6) You then type in your email address and pick a password7) You get two options - HBO free or HBO plus Live TV. The second option costs $10 a month. Be sure to click the first for just HBO for free. You can then logout of DirectTV. 😎 Download HBOGo app. Choose DirectTVNow as your provider when setting up your HBOGo account. You'll need to type in your DirectTVNow email address and password to verify DirectTVNow is your provider. You'll then be able to set up and HBOGo account.

Just go to directvnow com, sign in for a new account, but don't create one, at the top it says AT&T UNLIMITED PLUS℠ CUSTOMERS.HBO® is now included. Start streaming. Verify Mobile NumberClick on it and put your phone number, it will send you a txt that you need to confirm, then after create your account, if you previously used your att email, to open an account then use a different email address it will still work cause that's how I did it, after you can also use HBO GO app.

Not getting free HBO after upgrading to the unlimited plan is a concern. This is an excellent offer. I am more than willing to help with this.

I called about this right after they offered the option. There were very helpful people on the phone and chat that tried to escalate it. They did apparently open a ticket and I was supposed to hear back from someone within 2 days. I never did, and it never started working. I think they have no intention of offering it to mobile-only subscribers and it's a trick to get us to give them payment information for a direct TV online account hoping that we forget to cancel. I am not usually one for conspiracy theories, but this seems pretty clear. They have made no attempt to fix it for anyone and now pretend they don't know it is a problem. That's ridiculous. They know it is a problem, one that they benefit from not solving. I gave up and I've generally lost trust in the company as a whole.
It doesn't work
.There is no option for to verify the text you send. There is no option for HBO free.
HBOGo app does not recognize me as being a DIRECTVNOW customer
I have same problem Spent one hour on chat. Finally said someone from ATT will contact me within 14 days!!??
that was the attitude ATT gave me. "No idea what the cause of problem is, Oh well.. too bad...Did we resolve your problem today?"
Not expecting ATT to waste their time trying to fix it. They have more important things to worry about, I only spend $190/month on ATT cell service...
