E-mail fails to forward pictures to others I send to

Samsung S6 Active  When I forward emails, most of the time the pictures do not successfully pass on to the receiver.    I can send to my own email accts from my phone and check on other devices or laptops to confirm it does not go thru.

Greetings @Wichitaradioguy,

We'd like to dig into this inquiry for you but, there some questions we need to ask first.

  • Are you using AT&T email or is it a third-party email?
  • Are you sending the pictures in their actual size or have you tried to send the pictures in a smaller format?
  • Have you tried resetting your email account?

Using ATT email.  Not resizing, just trying to forward exactly as I received the email with pics.

Hey there @Wichitaradioguy!

We'd like to know more about your experience.

  • Have you ever been able to successfully forward pictures to other emails before?
  • Do you receive an error message when you send an email containing a pic and it doesn't arrive?

We recommend that you try the following steps:

  • Check browser settings: First, make sure you're using one of our supported browsers. Then, try clearing your cookies and cache.
    • Can’t find downloaded attachments and basic browser troubleshooting didn’t help? Check your browser download settings. You’ll find them in your browser’s Options, Tools, or Preferences menu. Once you’re there, just change your download settings and select where you want to save your downloads.
  • Reduce file size: You can attach up to 50 files to an email message with a maximum total message size of 25MB. Want to send larger files? Try using a free file-hosting service like Dropbox or YouSendIt.
  • Remove special characters from a file name: Make sure you haven't used any special characters (like #, $, /, or @) in your file name. These characters can cause problems in sending.
  • Reformat encrypted files: Attachment garbled or doesn’t open? It may be in an encrypted format. Encryption only works if both the sender and recipient have the key to decode it. Ask the sender for an unencrypted file.

Let us know how this worked for you.

All the references listed in your reply take me to dead-end 404 pages.   I have talked to several people who say ATT short changes users to save data.  Want you to try third party gimmicks to make things work.  Why can I receive emails with photos intact, but cannot forward to others in complete?  I work with public safety agencies all over Kansas and the common denominator among everyone is that ATT is still a half (Edited per community guidelines) outfit.  Verizon has more coverage and reliability border to border than anyone.  My work phone is Verizon, and I never have any surprised or shortcomings with their system.

@Wichitaradioguy,

We understand you frustration in regards to receiving photos intact via email versus not being able to forward the email with the photo to the recipient.

And we apologize for the links taking you to a dead-end 404 page. We'd advised you to clear your cache and cookies on your web browser. And also try a different browser to sign onto your AT&T email.

  • Have you tried to save the photo via email to your gallery then email it like that?

Apparently you think the problem I am having is on a laptop or desk device.  It is not, it is using the ATT EMAIL APP on the Samsung phone.  If I can get to a normal computer, I can forward those emails thru my various email programs without issue.  I am trying to forward when in the field using my ATT phone.  That is when it constantly fails.....

Greetings @Wichitaradioguy,

We understand this must be frustrating. We really want to get to the root of this.

Please tell us:

  • have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the app to see if it resolves the error
  • is your Samsung Galaxy S6 Active operating the latest software patch
  • have you tried to troubleshoot your device
  • are other email apps having similar issues

Let us know so we can assist further.

My phone has following software:  G890AUCS7DRF2.

Have not tried uninstalling or reinstalling.  Will I loose saved messages by doing this?

Let's look into that for you, @Wichitaradioguy!

When you update your device, the software automatically uninstalls the old version and installs the new version. As a result, you won't lose any information already stored on your phone.

If you haven't already tried, follow these set of instructions to configure your phone set up for AT&T email on smart devices. You'll want to use the different server settings for your account which may help resolve your experience.
