Delayed Text Messages (Group Chat and sms)

Sms/MMS delayed text messages  I HAVE A GROUP CHAT THAT CONSIST OF 2 HUAWEI ASCEND XT2 AND 2 ZTE 3S....... WE HAVE A GROUPCHAT THAT IS NOW GETTING DELAYED TEXT MESSAGES  THE HUAWEI RUN ON ATT IDK WHAT THE ZTE RUN... I HAVE TRIED THE BATTERY OPT THING AND CLEARING CHACHE AND DATA AND DELETEING TEXT WE ALL HAVE CELL SERVICE..WHAT THE PROBLEM AND HOW TO FIX, THANKS

I have also tried the At&t troubleshooting tool which was of no help... 

We all have service

This also happened when I texted someone

A video

15 seconds which always sends 

And I sent it at 5pm they got it at 3am

 

Need help fast, Thanks!!!

As I said elsewhere, I am having the same issue. It's ridiculous. I have spent so much time on with the protech people for the last two weeks. Rebooted, deleted threads, reset network settings, had people do OTAs - all of these. Once it fixed the issue, but it was only temporary. I don't understand how people spend 100s of dollars per month and cannot text with family and friends over a group text during a pandemic. AT&T should be ashamed. This is a disaster.

We'd love to help with this. For those receiving delayed texts in the group chat, have them try these steps:

 

  1. From the home screen, tap the settings icon.
  2. Scroll down and select General.
  3. Scroll down to the reset option. Select it.
  4. Select Reset Network Settings.
  5. Some devices will be asked for their password at this point.
  6. Confirm the selection.

These are the instructions for Android devices. If anyone in the group has an Apple device and are also receiving texts later, let us know so we can provide those steps, too.

My messages in a group text take hours to show up and the group gets them at various times. How do I fix this? We all have iPhones.

Thanks for letting us know you are all using Android devices.

Group picture and video messaging uses Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) to send video and picture messages. All phones must be on and in a data coverage area. The AT&T mobile broadband network delivers MMS up to 1MB, but delivery may be delayed due to other carrier network limitations.

All devices must be in coverage to receive the MMS. If you are sending large video files up to 1MB, ensure all recipients have ample storage to download and view the file. If one of the recipients phones are turned off, or out of coverage the message is stored for up to 72 hours and delivered when the phone is turned on, or returns to coverage.

Other people I'm texting are from anywhere from Killen Alabama to Pennsylvania

This appears to possibly be a matter of communication between the towers and the devices. On most text and chat issues, the previously provided troubleshooting steps would fix. In this case, we would recommend using the AT&T Mark the Spot app to directly report delayed texts caused by connectivity issues. This will help the technicians to know areas in the local wireless infrastructure that needs investigation.
