data speed caps when roaming in Mexico: International Day Pass vs Mobile Share Plus

Good day -

I have a mobile share value plan which appears to be grandfathered.

Usually when I travel internationally, I use the International Day Pass for $10/day.  It works fine, and I get good speeds (usually LTE) depending on the country.

Now, I'm traveling to Mexico for 14 days. I don't want to spend $140 to use my data.  I have no need to call or SMS. I can switch to a Mobile Share Plus plan for the same price as my current plan.  That plan includes Mexico roaming with my allotted data, but it says in small print:  Roaming may be at 2G speed.

Speeds at 2G would be a deal breaker for me. Can anyone who has used the included Mexico data roaming of a Mobile Share Plus plan tell me if I get the same speeds as I would if I use the International Day Pass?  The International Day Pass language does not stipulate that "roaming may be at 2G speed" so that's why I'm asking.

Thank you.

How much data do you have? The plan you have should already have Mexico roaming unless you have a small amount of data. When I had Mobile Share Value, I had Mexico roaming. The possibility of 2G speeds has nothing to do with the plan, it has to do with the roaming carrier. Any roaming plan could get 2G speeds. I never did, though.

I only have Mobile Share Value 6GB.  I have to go to MobileShare Plus (3GB or 9GB) to get Mexico roaming (there are no Value plans for me to choose).

Thank you. For my own assurance:  The last time I was in this specific spot in Mexico, I used International Day Pass and got LTE speeds. If I go to exactly the same place with a Mobile Share Plus plan, would I be eligible for the same speeds?

again your limited to the carriers towers not your plan. if they had the lte when you were there before then you should get the same speed now.
