Can’t send or receive text (MMS) messages or picture attachments?

Has anyone been told they will be charged extra for sending a picture in their text message.  For the first time in 20 years there is a .25 cent charge on my bill.  I know its not a lot but I wanted to know why they were charging me for text messages since I pay for an unlimited plan.  They said its because a picture was attached. REALLY I have sent hundreds of pictures in text messages and never been charged.  I am on hold with a manager right now for atleast

50 minutes.
