CALLER ID (cell phone)

Hi, My cell phone caller ID name is incorrect. How can I go about changing it?
Is this something I can change through my AT&T online account or do I need to contact customer service?

Thank you!

Let's look into that for you, @lopez951!

Currently, names displayed on a Caller ID for cell phones are saved by the device user. If you're receiving messages or notifications from mobile device users that your name is incorrect then they will need to update that information in their contacts.

However, if the users have landline service, then to update your name displayed on their Caller ID, it's recommended that you perform the following:

  1. Go to Profile > Account users.
  2. If you have more than one account, select the wireless account from the drop-down at the top.
  3. If you have more than one device, select the number to update.
  4. Select Edit.
  5. Enter the info and select Continue.

Also, you'll want to keep the following in mind:

  • You may have to sign out and sign back in to see the new name online.
  • The Caller ID name displays on landlines that have Caller ID. It doesn’t override a name saved in a wireless device.
  • It can take up to 72 hours, excluding weekends, for a landline to show an updated Caller ID name.
  • People may need to clear your number from their Caller ID record for your new name to appear.
  • Some home phone service providers may not offer Caller ID or receive regular updates to their Caller ID information.
  • For AT&T PREPAID (formerly GoPhone) customers, the Caller ID name says Wireless Caller.

Hope this info helps.
