Block the 1-410-100 messages
I am getting text messages from 1-410-100 and I can't block them because the last digit of the number is different. They are from an att phone to an att phone from att. From you. How can I stop this. I forwarded them to your spam number 7726. If I have to change phone numbers I will but it won't be thru att.

I noted that they all had a link to a .shop site... All the work that has been done to curtail email spam, and the idea that nothing can be done to block this type of spam is somewhat ridiculous...
If all 7726 does is help them block the sending email, then there is something quite wrong with the process.
I downloaded wideprotect from the app store and was able to add phrases to block texts. I do not think that these ranges 1410100, 1410200 have any legitimate purpose, are the suggestions of this confirmed ? Has anyone ever gotten a valid text from one of these ranges ?
Time for some innovation folks, just saying that "everyone is getting them" simply reinforces the need for a solution not just acceptance.
Seems to me that some sort of registration process for an email to send to a gateway might be a good idea... idk.

@All4Good usually the links included in these 1-410-100-xxx and 1-410-200-xxx SPAM texts are obvious fakes, as they point to clearly unaffiliated domains. My guess is the spammers are just picking common brands that their marks are likely to be familiar with and click on without thinking.
@TiredOfSpamAndLackOfInnovation I too hope that the cell providers come up with a solution, as it appears we have the technology. I’m finding Call Protect, the FREE tool offered by AT&T, is working pretty well for SPAM calls. In the meantime I’ll report back if the approach I went in to more detail about in my previous post works for me. It’s too soon to tell.
As for some of these 410 texts being legit, a quick search through my text history found some old Jury Duty notifications that came from the 1-410-100-xxx range.

It’s time AT&T block all 1410?????? texts. These are jot from full or real numbers and are phishing scams. It’s time AT&T lead for once and block them for their customers without charging more.
The AT&T Call Protect app doest do it, we can not even report them via that app, reporting them by forwarding them to SPAM seems to do little, blocking them is a waste of time because the spammers alter the number slightly.
No excuses, just DO IT
Thank you
Mike

I'm getting 6-10 a day of these! AT&T has done nothing to stop them over months of harassment and, every one has been reported to 7726 and blocked. They just keep coming with ending numbers in ascending order and now I'm getting them from 1410 200 ...!

@debbieqd, I was in the same spot that you were. Maybe some of the suggestions above to block mail to sms might help. In my case I downloaded an app from the app store called wideprotect. I put in a sms filter on .shop/ and .php
I'm sure there are many apps that allow you to do this, so far in last few days all 4 spam texts from the 100, 200 combo have been sent right to junk.
I also set it to block neighbor spoofers, they use the first 6 digits or so of your phone number to make you think it's someone you know... In my case all were fake callers from overseas trying to scam.
Hope it helps, and can't imagine how someone can make an app to do this but big telco simply accept as being normal or reasonable.

how do i stop the quantity of spam texts i'm getting? I've been getting daily spams for months and I report every one of them, but that has not helped. What is the purpose or reporting them if AT&T isn't going to do anything about it?

> I'm getting 6-10 a day of these! AT&T has done nothing to stop
You just talked to incompetent agents. Follow @ergolad 's post. I had 4-7 a day, but as soon as I reached out to "advanced" tech support at AT&T, all stopped -- no 1-410- messages.
7726 method does not work. It is not AT&T's service and they have no control, which means they cannot filter whatever you report.

A customer shall not be a programmer/it guru to stop this junk. It is the service provider responsibility IMHO

@async I entirely agree with you... If companies can reduce spam emails they should be EASILY able to do the same thing with texts, especially if arriving through email gateway. The internet is a wonderful thing but it is now the wild west with voip spoofed calls and these garbage texts.
About 1/2 of the calls I get each day are from offshore scammers, I have resorted to sending unknown calls to voicemail because the telco are not yet able to detect if someone is spoofing a number. I thought that was what STIR/SHAKEN was supposed to do, to require a certificate and allow identification and tracking of bad actors.
https://www.fcc.gov/call-authentication
I've a feeling that if someone at the telco wanted to block sms with ".shop" or ".php" patterns that it could be done... I'm just not sure they are really serious about it.
Why should someone have to opt out of spam texts by calling tech support ? Seems to me they should better identify the sender or not allow it. I think it's ridiculous that we need to buy apps to stop this garbage, but that is what a hefty bill expects of us...
When will STIR/SHAKEN be used to identify spoofed calls ? Block spoofed calls ?
This seems to only be getting worse...

Lately I’ve had a huge increase in phishing texts. They all come from 1-410-xxx-xxx numbers, which hide the actual spammer’s identity using an email-to-text gateway. AT&T provides no way to block this number range, and some defend the need to support 410 codes, without explaining why the sender can't just use their email address or phone number. My question is, who else besides scammers benefits from this 410 gateway? Please be specific as to why hiding the sender's identity is a Good Thing.
