Block the 1-410-100 messages

I am getting text messages from 1-410-100 and I can't block them because the last digit of the number is different. They are from an att phone to an att phone  from att. From you. How can I stop this. I forwarded them to your spam number 7726. If I have to change phone numbers I will but it won't be thru att.

Or maybe the suggestion from jayacf will work.  The reports seem positive.  Curious why the staff here don't comment on or acknowledge it.  Let alone share it.  Trying now...

@Katiebottolfson Ignore it. It’s a phishing scam.

It’s extremely annoying.
The ridiculous thing is, AT&T’s response is, “Report and Block them…”

That is the most ignorant response ever. We do that EVERYTIME GENIUS!! We’re sick of it!! We don’t want the f-ing texts, PERIOD!!

How about giving the ability to block the first 6 numbers of an entire number block?

Or how about, being a billion dollar company, you just have your bosses block all 410 calls/texts. Or give us an option to.

ATT's not-very-helpful response was 4 years ago.  Currently ATT is still unable to fix this issue.

AT&T needs to block ALL messages from short code starting with 410! Why hasn’t this already been done at the carrier level?? I’ve have reported these to 772-6 and blocked so many different iterations of this 410 number.

Why has the carrier continued to allow their users to be assaulted with this scams?!?

Texts from those 410 numbers are texts sent from emails through the email to text gateway. Many people rely on that service. Not a chance they’ll all be blocked.

Currently AT&T is doing a very poor job at filtering out SMiShing from whomever is licensing the 410 short code service.

Every day I receive multiple scam SMiShing text from a 410 number.

1 (410) 100-001

1 (410) 100-002

1 (410) 100-003

1 (410) 100-004…

etc. etc. etc… these have now moved into the 410-200-xxx numbers…

All the scammers do is just keep cycling through these numbers…and I add yet another number to my block list… which is reactionary and not preventative.

This isn’t the first forum post regarding scam text messages from these 410 numbers. There are post from 2017 regarding this issue and AT&T apparently can’t be bothered with deploying a filter to block out scammers and create a solid exception/safe sender list.

AT&T doesn’t seem to be doing anything to stop the offending numbers that are engaging in SMiShing…and it’s insanely rage inducing.

Just because YOU receive phishing texts from a particular number does not necessarily mean that all texts from such a number are phishing.

Actually the more I dig at this the more depressing it becomes. I found a post from 2013 regarding this issue with AT&T on Apple‘s community forums and more from 2015 from AT&T’s forums…

Fixed it for you:

Currently ATT is still unable unwilling or reluctant to fix this issue.

Try @jayatcf 's suggestion?

I haven't received one of these spams in > 6 months.  A squeaky wheel gets the grease situation?

I like your username, @Disgruntled_Consumer! - Disgruntled too.

There must be a way to block all calls from +1(410) area code. I don't care if never hear from someone in Maryland as long as these calls get blocked. I'm sick of getting messages at 2 am from a spammer.

Looking for some help outside of doing AT&Ts job for them.  Ever since switching to AT&T, all four of my lines are receiving daily and multiple times daily spam text messages to them.  I have call protect on, but some still make it through.  At first I was forwarding them to 7726 and blocking them, but it seems like I keep receiving them all from different numbers, which makes repeating this process everytime a chore.  Prior to AT&T I was on T-Mobile and Verizon and rarely if ever received spam text messages.  What is weird is my corporate phone has been on AT&T for over 5 years and I do not receive any spam texts on there at all, but all four of my personal lines do daily.  What can be done short of us doing AT&Ts job for them?  Why is it the other carriers can stop this or atleast limit it to where it isn't annoying, but somehow AT&T cannot.  Any suggestions or am I better off switching back.

I'm on Verizon, I get a half dozen spam calls and about 2 - 4 spam texts a day.   So other carriers can't stop it either.

We understand the frustration in receiving spam text messages, we are here to help @!

We recommend downloading our AT&T Mobile Security and Call Protect Apps which scans your mobile device and all apps for malware. Check our our SMiShing And Other Texting Scams article to learn more about common text scams and how to defend yourself.

Do not open, respond or click on any links on suspicious text messages as doing so only alerts the spammer that your line is active, clicking on unknown links compromises your personal data. Also, check out our AT&T ActiveArmor which is included in our AT&T Unlimited Plans for additional protection and spam & fraud call blocking.

We hope this helps! Reach back to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for reaching out to the community!

I just switched to AT&T and I am having the same problem. I also have the mobile security and call protect apps. None of them do anything to block these texts.

I’m having the same problem. I switch from Sprint and I regret it! We NEVER received text messages from trucking companies, random calls from spam risk or company titled credence when we were with sprint. And telling people to down load apps (that give your info to third parties), or block multiple numbers a day is not a solution to the problem AT&T. We the customers, now spend our day blocking scammers when that’s AT&T job. I didn’t have this problem before I switch so it’s something AT&T allows. The company has to be making our numbers public or selling our info to third parties.
