AT&T Text service to and from Hungarian Providers
Can anybody update the 2015 answer below regarding text and SMS services between AT&T wireless and Hungary ?
Two questions: 1) Is T-Mobile Hungary now included? (I believe they acquired Westel Hungary and are now the largest wireless provider in Hungary)
2) OTP Bank uses SMS messages to verify on-line transactions. Will this work on the AT&T system?

I’d be happy to help with your messaging concerns! As detailed in our included countries with international texting plans, we currently support texting customers using the following networks in Hungary:
Telnor Hungary
Westel Hungary
Vodafone Hungary

I am showing the three you were quoted in 2015 are still the same providers. You can always check on any updates or other countries by going here.
As for the SMS short codes from the OTP bank, we are unable to guarantee you will receive short codes from international carriers. If you are able to receive them, received texts are charged at standard domestic messaging rates.

Thank you for the response, but there is still one clarification required. Westel hasn't existed for several years. They became T-Mobile Hungary Telecommunications, which I am told is now the largest wireless carrier in Hungary.
So the question: Does AT&T provide text service with T-Mobile Hungary?

The website I linked to you above does show Telnor, Westel, and Vodafone for carriers we can text for free on our plans in Hungary. Sadly, we don’t have more information on T-Mobile Hungary Telecommunications, so I am unable to tell you if you can text them for free.

I asked a T-Mobile user in Hungary to send a text to an AT&T wireless phone in the US. Both it and the reply got through, so I can confirm that AT&T does have a SMS agreement with T-Mobile Hungary.
Westel Hungary hasn't done business under that name since 2004. Maybe it's time for AT&T to update it's website so customers don't have to do their own tests?
