ATT Censoring group chats?

When trying to see the letters "USAA" in group chats, the message fails and reads "Unsupported content".

I've tried both Google Messages and Samsung Messages. Both fail.

All messages without "USAA" work.

RCS is turned off.

Sending "USAA" to a single person works.

Just group chats fail where its MMS and not SMS fails.

Anyone else with similar problems?

@joshutg, @Yet_another_Frustrated_customer, @kevink & @formerlyknownas -

We reached out to our Mobility teams and it appears there was an increase of text phishing incidents, utilizing the term 'USAA', and group message parameters were impacted, as a security measure.

We've also been told that this has been resolved and you should not run into this issue, going forward.

Thank you for your patience,

The AT&T Community Team

That is weird.

I was blaming something on your phone, but I turned off iMessage on my iPhone, and am able to send the message on my Visible line.  But NOT on my ATT line.

I am having this exact same issue. Same word/acronym. It works in an individual message but doesn't work in a group chat. RCS on/off doesn't change anything. Switching from the Samsung Messages to Google Messages didn't work. Resetting network settings didn't work. What gives?

Glad to see I'm not the only person affected. Also its the same for apple phones.

@ATTHelp Thanks for the suggestions but those do not help. It's a specific phrase that att is refusing to send via mms.

Whatever the issue is, unsupported content is not AT&T censoring USAA which is a valid banking and insurance business for military and veterans

If you're involved in a group text, everything is sent as MMS, not SMS.  Try adding an emoji and send and see if it goes through.

Also keep in mind that despite promising better messaging services, AT&T continues to have a limit of 10 for Android users or mixed device message users.

I believe Apple users can still exceed the limit of 10 and can message back and forth with up to 20

@formerlyknownas I'm not suggesting they are censoring usaa content, but they are rejecting the letters "usaa" in mms messages. Emojis work. Pictures work. Reactions work.

Just tested.  single addressee from iPhone via MMS.  Usaa and photo.  Failed delivery.

I'm sure there is some reasonable explanation.  A glitch of some sort in the MMS code.

Some spam filter that is erroneously flagging this?

At least it is failing right away.  So we don't just assume it was received properly.
