I read in a previous post that Advanced messaging doesn't work on samsung s22.  The original post was dated April 2022.  Has this changed?

If so please let me know which messaging app to use.  Detailed instructions would be much appreated.

Thank you for the response, danm926.

Advanced Messaging (AM) is AT&T's next generation Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging service, offering enhanced features such as read/delivery receipts, typing notifications, larger file transfers, and group chats.

It's available on new Android smartphones with Android 12 OS launching after February 25, 2022. If you have an older Android you want to make sure your device is on Android 12 software.

You can use Advanced Messaging if you :

  • Are an AT&T postpaid wireless customer
  • Have an Advanced Messaging (RCS) capable device
  • Are within AT&T-owned and operated network coverage

Note: RCS is available outside of network coverage with Wi-Fi data if Wi-Fi Calling is enabled.

  • Do not have a conflicting feature on your account, including the following:
  • SMS or MMS blocks you have added to your account
  • Data blocks you have added to your account

If you have one of these features, they must be removed from your account for Advanced Messaging to work.

Please let us know if you have an AT&T branded device or have an unlocked device. If your device is unlocked, you want to check out our Service capabilities for you unlocked device to see if your device supports this feature.

Let us know how this goes!

Hello danm926! We can help you access the Advanced Messaging feature on your Samsung S22.

To turn on the Advanced Messaging feature, you will:

  • Go to Settings
  • Choose Advanced Messaging and tap On or Off.
  • Tap On to send read receipts. Tap Off if you don’t want to send read receipts.

We hope this information helps, and please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

Thank you for keeping us updated, danm926.

Based on this information, we'd like to meet in a DM so we can help you use Advanced Messaging. Our message will be found in the upper right-hand corner of this page, in the chat icon.

In the meantime, please let us know what software version your Galaxy S22 is using, as we'll need that information.

We look forward to chatting with you.
