Advanced Messaging phishing scam

My Galaxy S7 is being flooded with group text messages asking me to turn on advanced messaging.

How can I block and delete them?

Hello, @djlankenau,

Thank you for reaching out. You should be able to block the numbers. Try this:

  1. On the Phone app, select Menu>Settings.
  2. Select Block Numbers.
  3. Enter the number you want to block.
  4. Select the Add icon.

Have a great week.

The question that still remains is "is the Start Using ... Advanced Messaging" page a real page resulting from an upgrade or a trojin waiting for me to press "OK"?

Hey there @djlankenau!

We want to look into those multiple messages you're receiving about Advanced Messaging. You should avoid any action if you feel it is unsafe for your device.

Try resolving your experience by enabling Advanced Messaging on your Galaxy S7:

  • Open Messaging client and tap Menu > Settings > Advanced Message. Tap On to use Advanced Messaging. Tap Off to turn it off.

Additionally, you should check the firmware version on the Galaxy S7:

  • Navigate to Settings > About device. Scroll to Baseband version and make sure that the device is up to date.

Let us know how this works for you.
