5Ge connected but there’s no data connection
I live in 80501. My iPhone has 2-3bars at my house and usually LTE connection although today it says 5Ge and I can’t connect to the internet or text AT ALL without WiFi. This is from my house in a highly populated city where I usually do get cellular data. There is no longer an App for reporting this so I’m hoping you will fix it through here. I have already restarted my phone, turned data on and off including roaming, tried the airplane mode on/off multiple times. Still says I have 5Ge but I have no internet connection without the WiFi. I also don’t know why it says 5Ge instead of the usual LTE, but please switch it back or I’ll have to switch carriers. I can’t always be connected to WiFi when driving around town or on walks with the dogs. It’s a safety issue.

Hello @owllady and @Rod_2022, We can help shine some light on your concerns with your AT&T data connection.
Like most wireless providers, AT&T may reduce your data speed when our network is congested. That’s how we manage the network to make sure more people can connect.
With most of our plans you have a certain amount of data monthly to be used, once you have reached your limit the speed will become slower than normal. If you go over your data in a month, you may experience reduced speeds during times of network congestion, but your speeds are reduced only if the network is congested and only for the rest the month. However, you might notice a difference when streaming video, which may appear slow or choppy.
Use Wi-Fi to reduce the chance that you'll reach your monthly data. Wi-Fi data won’t count towards the data you have with your AT&T plan.
Learn more about unlimited data plans and reduced speeds.
Try to completely power down your device for thirty seconds before turning it back on again. If this help the device make a fresh connection.
Please let us know if this has been helpful information for you today.

5Ge is just enhanced LTE. Seeing 5Ge usually means a faster data connection, not no data at all. Unfortunately, there is no one here that can force your phone back to LTE. It’s possible you are just experiencing network congestion and the problem will clear on its own but even if ATTHelp responds, there is likely not anything they can do other than repeat all the troubleshooting steps you have already tried.

I had this same issue. Do you have the Unlimited Elite Plan?
I made many calls to tech support.
To get the data to work, they downgraded me from the Unlimited Elite plan to the new Premier plan (without my permission or immediate knowledge) and data started working. Now I lost my HBO Max with no way to get it back. I'm not happy at all. It turns out it's something on their side not turned on correctly.
