WHY? This station had some of the most interesting content of the entire lineup! This may push me to cancel cable once and for all.

Were they in re-negotiation discussions with AT&T? Maybe they couldn't agree, or NHK pulled the feed for the same reason.

Not that I ever saw. No scrolling messages about it, no warning, just gone. I'm beyond disappointed.

Well there you go! Good info.

Thanks Skeeter, I would never have seen that page. Guess I'll need to watch it on my laptop now.

So that's four channels lost this year, right?

Watch that corporate greed next January tho...

(TBH though, a lot of NBCSN stuff moved to other channels, so that doesn't really affect costs much.)

Disappeared from UVerse in Memphis TN today too. (Edited per community guidelines). Screen says "This channel is no longer available."

Why is NHK dropped from our channels in No Calif,?  Do I need to move to another provider to see it now?

There are 2 other ways I've found to access NHK live streaming:

1. There's a free channel on Roku for NHK.

2. NHK streams its broadcast live on the internet. I don't know if I can put their url up here, so search for "TV Live | NHK WORLD-JAPAN Live & Programs". I've been able to pause the playback to hare off for a snack or similar which is convenient.

Note that NHK World is like the US PBS but is supported by the japanese government. It sure was convenient to record some of my favorite programs though, so I'll miss it on UVerse.

UVERSE has discontinued a gem of a network.  NHK news coverage and their story selection provided a less editorialized coverage of news available from this country 's networks.  Other aired programs gave insight into the Japanese culture so much older and different from the USA's.  I hope you will consider reestablishing NHK network in your lineup.

Perhaps you could reconfigure one of the numerous network shopping opportunities or celebrity's product endorsement programs.  It seems the longer I am a UVERSE fiberoptic prescriber, the more of these types of programs appear.  I would like to stay with UVERSE but am becoming increasingly disappointed with channels/programs available.   Also so many programs that I enjoyed with your service seem to be breaking off, bundling and then charging fees for their group of programs.

The contract with NHK expired and wasn't renewed. Read your TOS. Specific programming is not guaranteed and is subject to change. It happens to all providers.

The way your response reads: discontinuance of the NHK network is just a fact of life. It was never guaranteed. My expression of dissatisfaction and request for reestablishment of NHK means little to nothing to UVERSE.  One could  conclude from your statement, customer satisfaction is not a priority.

But thanks for the OtoPilot rapid response.

No channels are guaranteed on any provider.

Please look before posting. Here's a similar thread right below:

This might be it for AT&T for us. First BBC now our absolute fave channel of all time.

Does anyone know if their competitors such as Direct TV or Xfinity or Spectrum carry NHK channel? Will do the research but need to find out if it's currently on and if it may possibly be dropped soon before I switch.

Thanks in advance.

How could you remove NHK? That was the best channel you had!! Bring back NHK. Otherwise I’ll look for other service. Ugh
