DirecTV Job Scam?

I got a text from a guy that he identified himself is HR Manager of DirecTV. He told me that I got into an interview through Wire App. I did the interview and got a phone call on the next day from them to inform me that I got hired. He transferred me to a team leader and she told me to buy an iPhone and iPad for work purposes then ship it to an address that she called workstation. At that moment, I felt suspicions and try to hold with them.

Something is worth to notice:

1, Interview with texting through an unfamiliar app

2, I search his name up and see no relation of the name and the job

3, If for workstation of DirecTV and AT&T, why don't they just tell me to send to a workstation of AT&T or DirecTV but some personal address.

I saw a same article in the AT&T Forums when I looked up today but it doesn't have any update on his situation. So I decide to make another one to see if anyone get into the same situation as mine. I even called the AT&T and DirecTV to confirm but they couldn't help

Everything look legit, even from the email, that they include the Job Briefing, Job Offer Letter, and DirecTV Reimburse Form. At this moment, I'm tryna hold with them since I feel this is a scam. If it's really a scam, I think AT&T or DirecTV should do something about this because this looks way too legit

AT&T and directv both supply any electronics needed. They also don’t go through text they call and setup an in person interview.

Sure sounds like a scam to me. No way you would be required to buy an iPhone and an iPad yourself.

The same exact thing is happening to me to a T. Almost sent my stuff off, but everyone around me advised against and I agreed. The red flags were just too much to not be suspicious.

Same. My people were named Danny Bryant and Lyra Caroline. I messaged the team leader and called them out.

I think they are basically 1 person, their English looks the same. Besides, this guy seems like a Chinese. I remember the phone call is a dude with a Chinese accent in his English. I already feel suspicious right at that point.

Yeah the only guy I had a phone conversation with sounded foreign. I’m just so glad I saw this forum cause I was looking everywhere on LinkedIn and google to verify identities.

I’m dealing with this right now almost to a T. The people I spoke with are a John Bell (HR), a Tami Smith (team leader), and a foreign man on the phone named Mr. Dawson (I don’t remember the first name if it was ever said).
i called Directv and AT&T, no one could help me, but I did speak to a receptionist that said her hiring process didn’t sound too dissimilar to what I was describing. So it gave me confidence to continue, but seeing this forum is making me want to pause again. There are many red flags and many legit looking elements. I just don’t know what to believe
