Why did AT&T place a Hard Inquiry on my Equifax account?
I checked my credit report and I noticed that AT&T placed a Hard Inquiry on my Equifax account back on June 20, 2017. I have never had or attempted to get AT&T service, how can I have that removed.

Good morning, @Geo040,
I apologize, however the only way to remove a credit check (hard or soft) is to file a dispute with the credit bureau. The reason is the credit bureau has to declare his inquiry was unauthorized. You can file a dispute online, or by mail
The information for the three credit bureaus are listed below;
Equifax
Equifax
P.O. Box 740256
Atlanta, GA 30374-0256
Phone #: 1-866-349-5191

Order your free credit reports from all three bureaus (trans union, experience, Equifax) - annualcreditreport.com (Google to make sure of address) they also have a ph # 877.322.8228. I personally suggest calling and having them mailed so you have a hard copy to make copies of if need be. Included in the mailed reports is documentation on who to contact for identity theft - very good resource.
Dispute/correct anything incorrect via phone & mail: spelling of names, addresses, phone numbers, accounts, etc (form included if you call and have them mailed to you).
Call the ph number on the report and put a FRAUD alert on your report.
Hope this helps and good luck!

@Alwayzalady30 Hello. My apologies that happened to you. You would need to submit a dispute on your credit file so that it can be looked into and removed if needed.

I tried this, and they said that at&t have to remove this hard inquiry, and they can't do that without at&t. So you guys from at&t made the inquiry , you should withdraw that inquiry!

@Geo040
This forum is comprised of regular customers to communicate with other customers to offer advice and share experiences same as any other user. This is a public forum. Although there is a small team of customer care specialists that monitor the forums the sheer volume of posts are simply too many posts for these agents to respond to each one of them. The most effective way to get any issues resolved in the forums is to send them a private message directly with all pertinent information and wait for a response, use the contact link on the bottom of the page or call 1-800-288-2020. Some of us are employees but we are here to represent the forum with our knowledge and do not represent AT&T with our responses.

Hello, @Geo040,
This is James, and I am with the AT&T Community and Forums team. I understand you want an unauthorized credit pull removed from your credit report. This is understandable as it is important to have this information correct. I will be happy to explain the process.
I have no idea why the credit bureau is giving you the run around. They are the ones who have the tools to determine if credit pull was made in error or fraudulently. Disputing and removing unauthorized pulls is there job. To get this resolved you will need to file a dispute with them either online or via mail. I have included the contact information for all the bureaus below
