VOIP voicemail not anwering

If I call my digital home phone from my cell (non-AT&T) it just rings without going to voicemail. I went through the painful process of setting up VM using the *98 process, but it still doesn't pick up. I've found various instructions on how to turn it on, but they all refer to pages that no longer exist or don't resemble the page I see when I follow the link.

The account overview page shows that I *am* logged in, and it correctly shows our services (fiber internet 300 and AT&T phone unlimited North America) and usage, but under "Manage my phone" I see only info on my calling plan and current usage, then a bunch of links to support pages- no way to view or change any phone settings.

Could there be something wrong with my account setup?

Thanks, Carl

Let's make sure you can leave voicemails on your home phone, @carlf25

You may want to check the manual for your device to see if you can find more specific instructions there.

If it's still not working after looking through the settings, you may want to follow our digital home phone troubleshooting guide.

Reset your Wi-Fi gateway
Sometimes, restarting your home Wi-Fi® gateway helps fix issues. Please note this will interrupt all AT&T services including TV.

  1. Unplug the power cord for two minutes.
  2. Plug the power cord back in and wait for the gateway to fully power up.

Reset your Power Supply Unit
If your service is supported with a Power Supply Unit (PSU with battery backup often located in the garage or closet near an outside wall), then you may need to:

  1. Press the red Reset button on the side of the PSU to reset the service. Make sure you don't press the Reset button for more than nine seconds. If you do this, you might reset the outside unit to the factory default settings, which means you will lose your personal settings.
  2. Wait two minutes for the indicator lights to blink on the Wi-Fi gateway, and then check to see if your voice service is working.

Please let us know if this helps! If not, we may need to continue this in a private message for more personalized solutions.

Thanks for the quick reply, Raiden.

I called customer support and the nice lady spotted the problem- there was, in fact, a problem with my account. Somehow I was able to proceed without accepting some Terms & Conditions, and that disabled all operational controls for my account. She said I should see a notification to that effect in the MyATT header of the account overview, but I couldn't find any.

To resolve it, I had to go to att.net/uverse and set up a member ID, and there I found the T&C I needed, and I was able to set up and access my VM.
