u-verse caller id number has an extra (1) in front of the (1) that precedes the area code
SO, no way can you call the number back since it has that extra 1 in front and not the entire number because of it.
Forget about adding the number (even if you knew the last digit) to your directory since you CANNOT edit the front of a phone number - just have to rekey the entire number.
I have a Sony spp-a2480 base phone and handset (they still sell them by the way).
I took my phone to the next door neighbor who has a regular at&t pnone line (copper all the way - CATW 😉 and called his number using my cell phone AND it displayed correctly.
Why does this happen with AT&T - are they trying to sell their own Phone?

My area code is 916 and what appears on my Sony spp a2480 display is 1-191-612-3456. the extra one causes the last digit to be dropped.

@SactoStan99- Dialing ten digits sometimes requires a one & sometimes does not. Tel set mfgrs have provided ability to attempt to get the one added automatically when required.
I see the setting for your phone on page 76. It seems to be adding an extra one when used for u-verse. (U-verse is already providing it?? & your nieghbors service is not??)
If you are not needing it, it should be changed in your phone.

Page 76 is not the solution to getting rid of the extra 1. (It's nice having manuals on the internet isn't it.)
Pressing the # just adjusts the number by eliminating the first 1 (long distance) but the "trailng 1" within the area code "trio" is still there - in other words the position of the digits within the groups remain the same. my area code of (916) looks like this: 1-191-612-3456 and pressing # it's 191-612-3456 AND the 7th digit is still lost.
It's not my phone - it's AT&T adding the extra 1.

@SactoStan99 Just another reason to jump to Basic Talk at about 1/3 the price of UVoice. Only thing you won't get is # calling on TV screen.
Don't get any extra 1s added.

Is "basic talk" a service of AT&T?
I'm not familiar with it - please explain.
Thanks

The extra phones I have are pre callerid (old).
Callerid phones (with an answering service and extra handset) are expensive and I'd run the risk of having the same extra digit problem I'm having now.
I need to know of a Sony (because their display is 5 lines) Phone model that will work with U-verse before buying.

No, separate company that charges what ATT should be charging for VOIP service.
Basic Talk
Have no problem w/my Vtech wireless phone on caller ID, saves CID, Basic Talk has voicemail. 😉
