Getting "BAD REQUEST" whenever I try to download Voicemail from ATT Server

A little more than 2 weeks ago I was able to download all my Voicemail messages to my hard drive. Now every time I try to download Voicemail messages I get a "BAD REQUEST" answer from ATT Server.

At first I used to get the error Pop-Up messaga that "ATT IS HAVING TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. TRY AGAIN LATER" whenever I tried to download the Voicemail messages to my computer.

ATT sent out 3 Service Technicians and all 3 says the line is good and the problem is with ATT. I talked with ATT Tech Support and that person said, after about 1-2 hours talking on the telephone plus talking to the ATT Service Tech, that my computer is not compatible witth ATT and nothing they can do.

The Tech Support wanted me to install a obsolete non-Windows 10 compatible Apple Quicktime app that hasn't be updated since 2016. But I installed it with the same results as before. It would launch. So I uninstalled Quicktime again.

Yet my computer was compatible a little more than 2 weeks ago where I had been able to download my Voicemail messages to my PC since I first got ATT U-verse Home phone service.

By the way, I have a hearing disability which prevents me from HEARING or UNDERSTANDING voice messages on the telephone thus the reason for me to download the Voice messages. I can use my Headphones to listen to the downloaded Voice messages from ATT.

without any problems.

Has  anyone else have issues downloading Voicemail to their computers?

We are here to help, @elstaci.

Here is more information on how to download voicemail on your computer.

This gives you information about the Voicemail view app and what the requirements are. If you are getting any error messages, we recommend that you reboot your gateway to refresh your network.

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

I just discovered a workaround!  I'd seen this before, but for some reason thought the option was no longer there, but in fact it is.  Check the box to the left of the message, go to the More Actions menu at the top right, and select Forward via Email.  Then you can download or listen from your e-mail.  It's more steps, but at least it lets you hear the message!

Thanks you very much. You should work in Tech Support.

The AT&T Voicemail Viewer is a very good work around for my problem.  Only issue I have I don't hear it in my bluetooth Headphones yet I do hear audio when I make a Cellphone call using my Headphones.

I turned on Data but that didn't make a difference.

But at least I see that I have a written version of the voicemail which is excellent.

I was seriously thinking of switching from AT&T because of this deal breaker issue. It is important for me to have access to my voicemail messages.  Now I will stay with AT&T since I now have access to my voicemail at any time. which is great.

But I still would like to know why I can't download my Voicemail messages from my own PC.

Also why AT&T keeps on insisting on using an Apple QuickTime that hasn't been updated since 2016 and doesn't start when you click to hear the voicemail messages.

Thanks again for your suggestion. It did help my issue with downloading or hearing my voicemail messages from ATT Servers.

Hi, @elstaci.

Thank you for the update and we are happy that our solution worked for you. As of right now, this is the only way to view the voicemails on your computer and see them as a written message.

As far as the quick time is concerned, we recommend that you make sure that your browser is updated properly and try it out with a new browser if it doesn't work.

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns in the future.

Thank you for choosing AT&T.

The problem with not being able to download Voicemail messages isn't confined to my computer.

My wife which has a totally different computer has the same exact issue.

ATT either has blocked my voicemail messages from being downloaded or ATT Servers has some sort of restriction on my telephone number.

As I mentioned to ATT Tech Support they need to get a ATT IT Professional to follow my connection from ATT Server to my computer or home address to find out where it is being blocked or disconnected at.

As for Quicktime, it doesn't make sense to force ATT's Customers to use an Out-Dated software that was last updated on a now Non-Supported Windows 10 OS at that time.

I am sure there are more modern and supported software ATT can switch too instead of using Quicktime.

By the way I did use two other Browser with the same result while I had Quicktime installed.

NOTE: I just did an Ingrade upgrade Repair of my Windows 10 OS to see if that fixes the voicemail issue. It didn't.

I know enough about computers to know the issue is with ATT and not my computer.

Since no other Customer is having this issue then it has to do with either my ATT Telephone number or Home address that ATT Server is blocking or restricting.

But Thanks anyways for the workaround to my issue.

I'm having this issue again. I say again because it happened a few years ago too. I kept going up the support chain and was transferred to a department who's name I can't remember at the moment.

The person I spoke to tried all of this stuff, called another department with me on hold and finally after all of that admitted what I knew which was that it was an issue completely on AT&T's side. It took a week or more after that before the issue was finally resolved. It was never my computer, browser, gateway or anything else on my end.

You also are not able to download voicemail messages before and the same thing is occurring after several years?

Thanks for the update. At least it verifies what I was thinking as a retired service technician that the problem is with ATT servers and not my computer.

EDIT: I received a call from ATT triage? who I thought was a ATT Service Technician about my telephone line. The first agent said everything was good up to my Router.

Then my Router lost service again called the number from my cellphone thinking it was from a Service Technician. When I started talking I realized the number I called was from ATT support. The ATT Representative said that my telephone line was very bad and that it was showing cutting on and off all day. So an ATT Tech will be out here tomorrow to check the telephone line again.

If they change my telephone line then maybe my connectivity issues will be solved including not being able to download Voicemail messages to my PC.

@elstaci the voicemail issue happened a few years ago which was the not being able to download so I could listen on my computer. I spoke to people in a few different departments until the last one believed it wasn't an issue with any of my equipment  and told me they put in a ticket reporting what was going on to a department that didn't take calls.

Apple quit supporting Quicktime for Windows in 2016. Voicemails could be listened to directly on AT&T's site before Quicktime quit working which resulted in people having to download messages to be able to listen to them on their computers. AT&T has just left it broken in the sense that there appears to have been no attempts made to change things so people don't have to download messages if they don't want to. They just try and push people to use their phone apps instead.

Report back with results in regards to if the voicemail issue clears up after the repair people do their work at your home.

@JadedPixie I will and thanks for your input it has really been helpful. I am hoping the new line will also clear up my inability to download Voicemail messages.

I also agree with you completely about Quicktime. It is obsolete and not being updated anymore and it doesn't work with Windows 10 OS.

If the new line repairs and fixes everything I will surely update this thread.

Have you been able to successfully view and listen to your voicemail using our application?(I want to see if it's affected on both cellular device and PC.) Please may you tell me a little bit more about when you last escalated this issue, and what solution or remedy seemed to work at that time.

Please be advised we are currently experiencing voicemail issues, and have documented this is a known reported problem. We are currently working to resolve this as soon as possible. This may or may not have affect on your access to viewing your voicemail on the computer. While we work on this issue, we advise using your cell phone and application to view and monitor your voicemail.

@ATTHelp  This is the first time that ATT has mentioned that they are having Voicemail issues.

Why hasn't this information been past down to ATT Customer Support team?

When I called ATT Support instead of giving me a whole bunch of useless troubleshooting procedures concerning my voicemail messages and telling me my computer wasn't compatible all they needed to say was ATT is having Voicemail problems at this time and is being looked into.

Is this why I can't download my voicemail messages and if so, is there a approximate time when this issue will be resolved?

Here are screenshots of error, in case anyone wants to see:
