Out going message

I have a personal message recorded but it is using a built in one.  It is also not recording the incoming message.  The display on the phone says there is a new message but when I try to listen it says no new messages.

It's because the AT&T voicemail is picking up before your answering machine.  You've got 3 choices, set the AT&T voicemail out to it's max, set your answering machine to answer sooner, turn off one or the other.  If you have digital phone service you can turn off the AT&T voicemail in the phone features under your Myatt account.

Well first are you using phone company voicemail or are you talking about an answering machine on your phone system? If there's a message light and you hear stutter dial tone when picking up the phone that's a message from the phone company voicemail.

Thank you.  I do have an answering machine, but sounds like it is not working right and the AT & T voicemail is trying to work.  I do hear a stutter dial tone. I don't know why this would happen.
