IFWA-40 obsolete-need options
Enters a disabled senior, Ma Bell thru AT&T customer, who took telephones for granted until recently. Finances required that I sign up for my state's Lifeline phone rates but then my state withdrew from that program. I was hard-sold on the IFWA-40 home wireless device with voice only. For many reasons I need a "landline" or the equivalent with low monthly bill. Last week the device lost tower connection so I called tech support. Long story of 11 days, over 7 hours either on hold or repeating myself, 42 troubleshooting rounds, 6 CS techs, a replacement Sim card, a trip 35 miles to the BM store (their suggestion-find new provider :) just to learn (late in this painful journey) that this technology has been banned by the FCC. (Edited per community guidelines)! Why was I sold a time bomb then not notified of pending doom? Insert here that all this is done on my Safelink government subsidized, pre-paid, kinda-smart, limited-minutes phone. Halfway thru I had to purchase more minutes.
I'm now told my options are return to hardwire landline with installation or port number to another cell. If the landline rates are still high that will truly be a hardship and I don't need a second cell with a $$$ contract. I paid 21 months on this device which is now an obsolete brick. I have tried 800-331-0500 & 800-288-2020 but since my account number is connected to a device, I can't get thru to someone to answer my landline inquires.
Although this is a user's forum, I'm hoping an employee can advise me how to get assistance without offering my firstborn.
P.S. They tell me I owe a bill for 1-15-23 thru 2-14-23 even though I've not had service since 1-09-23. I figure they owe me for wasted cell minutes and my time.

Who told you wireless home phones were banned by the FCC. If I ever saw a case for filing an FCC complaint this is one. Others also provide wireless home phones.

I was told that disturbing fact twice just today by the escalated tech support and a supervisor. Who else offers wireless home service that isn't Voip? My internet is satellite and also data capped.

Google can answer that. A few are Ooma (just recently learned of it) Verizon, Consumer cellular, Straight talk. There's others.
