Caller cannot hear me when I am on speaker
AT&T Model CLP99387
When using any of the handsets (have 7), the communications changes to Simplex when I use the Speaker on my end. I can hear them, but I cannot interrupt them when they are talking. If they stop talking and I begin, they can hear me, but I cannot hear them as long as I am talking.
If we use the phone handsets without speaker, they seem to work ok, but the volume of the ear speaker is not very loud. Both my wife and I are slightly hearing impaired and that is why we need to use the speaker most of the time.

We are here to help you get your phone working again, weavermj54.
Is this a traditional landline or a digital phone?
If this is a traditional landline, we suggest that you unplug the jack from the wall and wait 10 seconds before you plug back in. This will refresh the connection to the phone.
If this is a digital phone, we suggest that you reboot your gateway. This will refresh the phones and the network.
Let us know if this helps.

Marc,
The phone service is via Cable (Cable TV) with a Cable to Telephone Modem. We have un-plugged and re-plugged the CLP99387Telephone Base many times. We have had the Cable Company scrambling to help us. They have done significant testing in their office and sent a technician to our home. We plugged the CLP99387 Telephone Base unit directly into the Cable to Telephone Modem to eliminate all wiring issues in the home, with the same results. When we use the handsets WITHOUT the Speaker Option, there is no issue. As soon as we turn on the Speaker Option, it changes the phone handset to Simplex communications. Adjusting the phone volume helps just a bit but does not solve the problem completely. This issue occurs on all 7 handsets in any room in the house, be it quiet or noisy.

Hi, weavermj54.
In the manual on page 53, 55 and 60, there are instructions on how adjust the volume for your phone. This will help with the low volume when phone is not in speaker.
Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

The word "simulated" in "simulated full-duplex" from this text in the manual:
is a bit worrisome. You're looking for full-duplex, and apparently the "simulation" isn't good enough for your needs.

The only thing I can think of to prove where the issue lies is take the base unit and a handset to a friends with a different service and see if the issue is still there. If possible try it on a POTS line. Even another carriers digital service may help prove it. You need to determine if it's the phone, which I doubt, or the service.

If it's the service (instead of the phone), then I would expect that the issue would be just as prevalent when not using the speakerphone feature.

Somewhat agree with your statement except when using a speaker on the handset it's the loudest signal that gets heard, do agree with your simulated full duplex statement. I don't know if the OP has tried talking loudly into the mic while on the speaker or not while the other person is talking. The only thing I've seen where everyone can be heard at the same time clearly and consistently is when using high quality full duplex speakerphones, like Polycom. If this were a major issue with the handsets I'd think there would be more complaints. The suggestion was to totally rule out the phone or the service.

I guess my question is "How do the speakerphones on your cell phone work fine?"
Why cannot this same technology (as in a cell phone) be put into the handset of a Cordless Phone??
This is now becoming evident why 3 different Cordless Phone Systems all act very similar, if Full Duplex is not a feature in this type of phone.
