call dropping on landline phone when another call comes in

I have an AT&T CRL32102 cordless that I bought 1/29/2019. I have only the one main base, no other handsets. My service provider is CenturyLink. I do not have "call waiting." I was talking to someone yesterday (4/11/2019) when suddenly there was dead air and I realized the call had been dropped. I remember several years ago when talking long-distance to my brother, our call was dropped--we reconnected and were dropped again. This happened a couple of times before we finished our conversation. He told me several days later that the problem had been when a local friend had been trying to call him -- so that's why I'm thinking yesterday's issue might be the same thing. (no proof, just a guess)

One dropped call could be most anything.  Was the handset battery getting low? There's really no way to know why the call dropped or on what end it dropped.  It'd all just be guess work.  Another person trying to call should have zero effect especially since you don't have call waiting.
