AT&T TL86103 2 line phone

I have two of the AT&T TL86103 at our small business. I have two issues:

Line 2 works but Line 1 is continually listed as being "In use" but it is not;

Secondly, the caller ID is not showing up.

Any ideas?

Yes, contact the actual manufacturer of the phones for support, which is V-Tech doing business as "Advanced American Telephones" and licensed to use the AT&T name and logo.

Try disconnecting one of the phone sets from the line and seeing if the other one then shows Line 1 as not in use.  Then repeat that procedure for the other.  If both show Line 1 in use when the other is disconnected, and there are no other phones, then you may have a line problem... you should get a different phone to confirm and perhaps call your telephone provider for service.

Likewise, if neither phone is getting caller ID, then probably the caller ID signal is getting lost or garbled between the telephone provider and the phone.  This could be related to the issue of why line 1 seems to always be off-hook.

I didn't complete the earlier thought.  If disconnecting one phone gets rid of the "Line 1" in use for the other, then that phone in suspect.

Can you make and receive calls on line one? Have your tested line one at the NID if this is traditional landline service?

No. We cannot make and receive calls on line one.

It is traditional land line service, but we have not tested it at the NID.

Test at the NID and if still bad report to your provider.
