whatisthe[V]infrontofcallersnameincallerID

What is the [V} in front of a callers name when ATT UVERSE landline caller id displays. It has happened two times with the same caller in the past week and with no one else. It is not a new phone set. Channel 9900 on television (phone services) displays it this way also. It looks like this... [V}JONES ALBERT and the number is displayed too. It is not a voicemail indicator as other voicemail message callers haven't displayed this way. Thank you for your help

It's what's being sent by the callers provider, you have no control over it.

I read online that it indicates that it's a telemarketer.

I can neither confirm nor deny the accuracy of that information.

Don't mess with old people.  The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.
