Teleport Communications phone line

I am trying to provide a new call forwarding number but was told that it is a teleport communications line not ATT even though we pay the bill through ATT.

Well AT&T (the old AT&T) bought Teleport Communications to enter the local markets in 1998, but I have no idea if when SWB in 2005 (became SBC in the 1984 breakup of the Bell System) bought AT&T Teleport was part of the deal, kind of doubt it since Teleport was a CLEC and would have been in direct competition with the LEC's. I don't know if this information is still valid or not. This muddies the waters even more looks like they were still connected in 2016. And then there's this on the FCC's website, it also has a customer contact number.

What a mess. Seems to me if AT&T is trying to say TCG is not part of AT&T is like picking the fly droppings out of the pepper, kind of hard to tell them apart. Good Luck on this one. Please let us know the outcome.

@spoom2 Hey, yeah i did some research as I've been trying to get this taken care of for some time. I called the customer care number for the FCC already but they are unable to help me. It's a nightmare and I'm over it. I only posted in the hopes that AT&T would respond like they have to previous people with a similar issue so that I could private message them. From my very minimal understanding Teleport is a subsidary of AT&T and it doesnt make any sense to me that AT&T employee's wouldnt know how to handle or reroute these calls. *Shrugs*

I don't know if I can get you any help, PM's aren't part of this new format yet, but I'll try.

@ryates12 One of the admin found this number (602) 824-9898 but couldn't get anywhere as the first thing it asked for was a phone number. Let us know if it does you any good. Also did you look at the FCC website I provided? It gave the AT&T contact number and email address.

Hey,

I called the number the admin found but I don't know the account pin as this account was set up over a decade ago. I did call the number on the FCC's website and they were unable to assist. At this point I've spoken to who knows how many people, 11 or so departments and have been given 8 different phone numbers. The problem is that this isnt an AT&T phone number DIRECTLY. The service comes through AT&T we pay the bill for the phone service through AT&T but it seems like the number is managed by Teleport Communications Group. I've been given that phone number but I have a SoCal cell number so it routes me to the West Coast and not the Southwest region. If anyone knows how to stop making me jump through hoops and to stop the endless stream of clueless people just trying their best that would be amazing. This feels like a gigantic waste of time for everyone involved *sigh*

Thanks,

One this that is certain here is that www.teleport.io is not the company that works with AT&T. They do webcams and time-lapse recording, and seem to do it well at that.
