We're happy to hear that you are wanting a second line, and we'd love to help you by providing the instructions on how to add one, @shaynecampbell.

Before you attempt to add a line, you'll need to confirm the following information:

  • If you have an installment plan, make sure you meet your plan’s eligibility requirements before trading in your smartphone. Learn about trade-in requirements.
  • If you choose a 5G phone but aren't on an AT&T Unlimited Your Way plan, switch to an unlimited plan where all plans have 5G access. View unlimited plans.

If you're bring a device that you've bought elsewhere, you'll need to:

  • Find out if your device will work on our network.
  • Make sure your device is unlocked. Not sure how to unlock your device? Contact your current provider or the device manufacturer.
  • Want to keep your phone number? See if it’s eligible to transfer. Wireless numbers take one to five days to transfer. Non-wireless numbers take five to seven days to transfer.

Once you've confirmed this information, you'll need to add the device to your account:

  1. Access our activation portal.
  2. Follow the prompts to order a new physical AT&T SIM card.

Feel free to reach back out and let us know how this worked for you! We're happy we were able to provide you with all instructions on how to add a line to your account.

Thanks for contacting the AT&T Community Forums.

@ATTHelp the OP is talking about a landline, not a cellular line. Don’t you pay attention to what forum you are responding to?
