Porting Fail/Rejected need help

Hi. I have a close account with att but I decided I would like to port the number. The message I get from the new service is for my rejection is:

We're sorry to let you know that your port in failed.
What happened?
Your previous carrier has rejected your port request, because the number you are trying to port is no longer active.
What do I need to do?
Please contact your previous carrier and ask them to reactivate the number, then return to your Tello online account and resubmit the port in. We’ll be waiting!

Can I get help and is porting still possible on my close account? Thank you.

You can't port a number from a closed account.

Yes I just called. Needed to active the number again :(

This enable port with verification code and resubmitting the port request was a wild goose chance. Then somehow there was a disable port department and they couldn't send me port verification code to verified me. I'll have to call & update my information with the credit bureau and retry it. 😂

Brother I realized I could live without the number.
