Phone number transfer
My parents had the same phone number for 50 plus years. They are now both deceased. We have been paying the phone line since there is still family living in the house. When we sell it, we want to have the phone number moved to one of the 7 kid's home so that it remains in the family at another location within the same city. Will we be able to do that and if so, how do we go about it? Everyone knows that phone number which is why we want to keep it. Thanks in advance for your help!

Who has ownership of the account? If it's still in your parents name you'll need to get that changed first, see this topic. Once that is done than whoever the owns the account can request the number be ported to a different address, even if it's in the same town it may not be able to be ported, so you have to check. If it can be ported don't cancel the old address until you're sure the porting is complete, if it's canceled before the porting is complete you'll loose the number.

The account was listed in my Dad's name. He wanted me to transfer it before he passed but unfortunately it did not happen. He was in the process of moving in with me.

I forgot to add that I am the executor of the account and have the paperwork as well.

You'll still need to go through the link provide to get the account out of your dad's name.
