Need assistance setting up Online account (for payment) with landline phone

I recently had a landline installed at my house with AT&T.

This is a basic analog landline with no extra features whatsoever.

I received my first bill in the mail a few days ago, and saw the option to pay online.

I followed the steps online to create a user account.

However, in order to finalize the user account a confirmation code is texted to the phone number associated with the account.
This text is being sent to my landline, which can not receive texts and does not even ring when the message is sent.

I spent several hours today on the phone with AT&T support, and was repeatedly sent to different departments for help.

I started by calling the (800) 288-2020 number, and was transferred to "Telecom".
Telecom transferred me back to the first department. This happened several more times as the people on the phone had no idea what to do.
I even tried the "Chat" feature on the website, only to have the same thing happen!
(very frustrating)
I simply need an online account.
Please let me know if this is possible. I would much rather pay online than having to write a check and mail it in every month.

It sounds like it has been quite a challenge to get your online account setup to be able to pay your landline bill. I can get you to the right people.

I am going through the same thing. Trying to set up for my 91 year old mom ,it should not be this difficult!
