land lines
I have land line phone service but only need it for my alarm system can I drop the phone service and keep the land line for the alarm system? Are there other options available for the alarm system communication?

Your landline won’t work without phone service. How do you think your alarm system uses the landline? It uses the phone service. Perhaps you should ask your alarm provider if there is an alternative to a landline.

I know i need service but don't need answering, long distance, calling notice i only need the utility function of the line.

Get your alarm company to change to Internet service (mine did) and then you won't need the service.
