Canceling and last payment - Landline (POTS)
If I were to cancel my AT&T landline (POTS) when would my last payment be due.
When canceling does that stop Autopay and Paperless billing?
Should I stop (pause) Autopay right before I call to cancel.
Here is what my Statement says for example (Current Statement)
Billing Date Feb 1, 2022
Jan 2 - Feb 1 2022
Autopay date is Feb 26, 2022
Monthly Service Feb 1 thru Feb 28
If I cancel before Feb 28 will I be billed for March.
Thanks in advance

The bill isn't prorated so at the end of the billing cycle. The rest of your question you should take to billing. To cancel you must talk to the loyalty/retentions group.

OK thanks.
Is there a special number for contacting loyalty/retentions group?

Just call the main number 800-288-2020 and at the prompt say cancel service. Should get you there.

One more question.
Does porting the number to another carrier close the account?
Thanks to all

No, but don't cancel until the port is complete. Only active accounts can be ported.

You do not need to disable autopay. Calling to cancel will close the account and terminate autopay. If you cancel by Feb 28 you will not be billed for March. Your should still receive a final bill with a Mar 1 billing date but unless you have long distance or other charges from February, it should be a bill for $0.00.

Just to emphasize from earlier post, if you are porting your number, do that first. Make sure it is complete (not just requested) before you call to cancel.

You're welcome. Just wanted to make sure you don't lose your number as too many times there are posts in the forum when people closed their account just a smidge too early.
