At&T cancelling landline. Problems switching to Verizon

I've tried for more than a month to switch my AT&T landline service to Verizon. AT&T is cancelling landline service in May. Despite trying multiple times and being on the phone for more than 14 hours total, it still has not happened.

I want to keep my phone number, but Verizon says At&T is making it hard to do so. And that At&T is unable to keep up with all the requests to switch service.

This is unacceptable. What is AT&T doing to make this process "seamless," as one of its reps told me it would be more than a month ago?

Any help greatly appreciated.

This is a user forum, not AT&T support, if Verizon can't get the number ported not sure what more you can do.  It's up to Verizon to get it done, not you. AT&T is cancelling all service?  In what town and state?  Don't post personal details.

Excuse me? I have been working with Verizon for more than a month, and their part of the switch is fine. It is AT&T that is jammed up with requests to switch and port numbers to Verizon. I have tried everything I can to get AT&T to respond and address this problem, and am using this forum as another avenue.

Google landline & AT&T and you'll see where they are ending landline service.

Your post is offensive and decidedly not welcome.

MYOB, please.

All carriers are doing away with POTS lines, not just AT&T, including Verizon where they are the ILEC and it's been predicted for years.  There's usually another service to replace it with digital or wireless home phone.  The fact remains it is the responsibility of the porting to company to set up and do what's necessary to complete the port.  They know what to do and if there's a delay due to the number of request they know how to deal with that to. Don't know why my post offended you it was fact based.  I will now MYOB.  Good luck with your port.
