Make sure your mail server isn't an open relay. Make sure you have SPIF, TKIP, etc., etc. set up for it. Make sure you have a valid PTR record. Use MXTOOLBOX.COM for help. Check various and sundry RBLs to ensure you're not on them (MXTOOLBOX has a section for this). Get yourself off of any you find yourself on. Follow good mail list hygiene and other applicable industry and legal standards.
Once you've done all that, send another e-mail to that address making it look like it was written by a legitimate business person vs a spam bot. Discuss your history with your IP address, i.e. how long you've had it, when you started using it as a mail server, any incidents where you've had an open relay or accidently allowed SPAM to be sent, etc. Aver that you will follow industry standard practices to not send or relay SPAM. Cross your fingers. Light a candle. Bow to the east (or west, as appropriate).
