Email forwarding inside a 'bellsouth.net' account.

When I retired from my employer, they allowed me to keep my Microsoft Exchange email address and hosted my email, contacts, calendaring, OneDrive, etc. Since I already had a 'bellsouth.net' email address that I used for personal email, I set up forwarding from the 'bellsouth.net' account to my Microsoft Exchange account. That way, all my email was consolidated in Microsoft Exchange. They decided to stop hosting email for retirees. I got a Microsoft Outlook account because moving all my email, contacts, calendaring, OneDrive files, etc from MS Exchange to MS Outlook was the easiest method. The forwarding is happening now to MS Exchange, I just want to change the forwarding email address to my MS Outlook account. How is that done? Thanks in advance.

Hi there, @gpafford. We understand that you need to change the forwarding of your email account. We can look at that together.

To change the forwarding of your email account, you can try these steps: Special Note- You will need to be in your AT&T Webmail to do this.

  1. Click the settings gear -> more settings -> mailboxes -> click the account you want to forward under mailbox list.  The pane on the right has the settings for that account which include the setting for forwarding.
  2. In the Forwarding section enter the email address you want to forward to and click the verify button.  Leave this page showing in your browser.
  3. Log into the destination email if not already logged in.
  4. Clicking the verify in step 2 should have sent an email to that destination account.  That email that asks you to "click here" to verify.  Click it.
  5. You get another login request to log into att/yahoo webmail which then puts up a page that says verify.  Click that.
  6. Back in the original account's settings page (step 2) you should now see the forwarding was verified.
  7. Click the Save button at the bottom and your done.

Now we do want to let you know that this feature may of become disabled over the years. If the above steps do not work, that is not a problem. There is an alternative. You can always set up your email account via Outlook. To do that, you can follow these steps:

  1. Create a Secure Mail Key.
  2. Add the account to MS Outlook. Special Note: When following the steps each time you see password, replace that with the secure mail key.

Try these things and let us know.

🤦‍♂️  ATTHelp knows full well that auto-forwarding ended in Dec 2018, some of their other boilerplate answers even cite that date.
