Cannot add Yahoo Mail account - iPad mini 6 iOS 15

Hello,

I have been unsuccessful trying to add my AT&T-Yahoo email account to my iPad mini 6, iOS 15.5. Let's take the Yahoo Mail app as an example. I am choosing to add the account through Yahoo's login page, and when I enter my Yahoo credentials, I do get connected to Yahoo. But what I get connected to is the Yahoo website, not a confirmation screen or some kind of screen that would allow me to complete the process of adding the account. The Yahoo web page appears as a screen-within-a-screen--that is, I am viewing it within the sign-in frame of the Yahoo Mail app. I can scroll around the Yahoo web page, use the links, etc., just as if I were viewing it using a web browser. What I cannot do is complete the process to add my account. The advance arrow at the button of the Yahoo Mail app sign-in screen is deactivated; only the go-back arrow is active.

This same result happens when I try to add the account via Spark Mail, which is my customary e-mail app. I have gone through this process both with and without my Yahoo account already added via iOS mail settings.

For the heck of it, I tried adding my AT&T Yahoo e-mail account to my iPad mini 4, also on iOS 15.5. I had not previously used the mini 4 for e-mail at all. I was totally successful in adding the account to the Yahoo Mail app. However, when I tried adding the account to my Spark mail app, I got the same result as when I tried it on the iPad mini 6.

So, I am confused and not sure what else to try. Any ideas? Thanks.

I will add that I have tried adding the account to Spark manually and get an error message saying "A stable connection to the server could not be established." I have checked that all the server information is correct.

I am successfully using Spark and Yahoo Mail for this e-mail account on three other Apple devices, including an iPhone on iOS 15.5.

We understand that you're having trouble with getting email working on your device JaceTheC.

  • Have you tried rebooting the device after completely removing the email? This will let us know if the device may require a secure mail key.
  • Please take a look at our article that covers Oauth to see if a secure mail key is required.

Please let us know so we can better assist you.

Hello,

The problems have resolved themselves without me making any changes to how I attempted to add my AT&T-Yahoo e-mail account to my e-mail apps.

For the record, both Yahoo Mail and Spark Mail work with Oauth, and, except for one instance in which I tried to add my e-mail account manually, that is how I have been trying to add my account to those e-mail clients.

Last night, hours after I posted my first message, I tried again. This time, my attempt to add my account to Yahoo Mail was successful. My attempt with Spark was still not successful. It still ended with that same strange situation where I was seeing a reduced-size, fully active version of my AT&T home page in the login pane.

I just tried the same routine with Spark again, 24 hours after my initial attempts. This time, the attempt was successful. Now, I have my AT&T-Yahoo e-mail account active in both Yahoo Mail and Spark, which was my goal. I have no idea what behind-the-scenes conditions changed to allow the desired result to happen, but my issues have been resolved.
