Bulk vs. Bulk Mail folders

I access my att.net accounts as IMAP additions to my MS Outlook mail system. AT&T mail generates both a "Bulk" folder and a "Bulk Mail" folder. Many customers have inquired on this.  AT&T's response to date has been UNSATISFACTORY. Please remove the "Bulk" folder process. The "Bulk Mail" folder is preferred because Outlook will empty this folder upon request (permanently delete in one command) rather than sending messages to the "Trash" folder.

Hi there, marksadams01. We understand that there is a special folder that was created when you set up your email account via Outlook.

According to Microsoft, IMAP bulk mail folders are standard creation with IMAP. It is IMAP's version of spam or junk. So it is not AT&T that is creating those folders, because AT&T does not create those folders.

You will need to contact Microsoft to have them look at your Outlook profile to see what they can do to prevent those folders from being created.

If there is anything else that we can do for you, please let us know. Thank you for posting on the AT&T Community Forums.

Funny, Microsoft told me AT&T is creating those folders.

Typical tech "support" tactic designed to make you go away.

Here is a thread from last year when this suddenly started happening.  I don't know that anyone actually found a fix and because it hasn't come up again until now, I suspect it was Yahoo and they (accidentally?) fixed the issue.
