adding email to Apple Mail version 16.0

I've not been able to add my [email scrubbed] email address to Apple Mail. When I try to add a new account, I'm given these options: icloud, MS exchange, google, yahoo, aol and "other mail account." I select the last option, add my credentials and receive "unable to verify account name or password." I see that this is using IMAP account type. I try to select the "pop" account and add the and server names, but I only get the spinning circle.

Help please!

Thank you.

Will the same instructions work to install my account to my MacBook Air laptop?

One additional question. If I use the same user name for both @ as, is this one and the same email account or are these two distinct email accounts?
