Adding account for an global.net email to my iPhone 6

I am not able to add my sbcglobal.net email, yahoo calendar and yahoo contacts to my iphone 6.  Here are the exact steps I am taking:

1. Select "Passwords and Accounts"

2. Select "Add Account"

3. Select "Yahoo"

4. Enter my email address [email scrubbed]

5. Enter my user ID as [email scrubbed]

6. Enter my regular password (not secure key)

7. Hit Enter

It then takes me to a screen that says "Somethings Gone Wrong"  "Let's try this again"   and we do it all over again with the same result, many times.   What do you suggest I try next? Is it possible for you to give me detailed step by step instructions on how to enter on my iPhone 6 as I am 67 years old and am not tech savvy.  For some reason this happened to 4 of my email accounts on both my iPhone and iPad.  I was able to fix on my iPad but not on my iPhone.  I spoke with an ATT agent but they were no help.  Please help me!

We want to help configure your email on your device, @Txstatemom!

Use the steps below to configure your AT&T email on your Apple iPhone 6  so you can send and receive emails on your device:

  1. On your iPhone home screen, select Settings.
  2. Select Mail.
  3. Select Accounts.
  4. Select Add Account.
  5. Select Yahoo!.
  6. Enter your email address and select Next.
  7. Enter your password and select Next.
  8. Choose which information to download to your phone by tapping the sliders next to Mail, Contacts, Calendars, or Notes, and then select Save.

Let us know if this was helpful!

Unfortunately, the instructions you have listed do not work and are the same as what I have been doing and still get the “Something has gone wrong screen”.  I was able to get one additional email account added though.  I have one other that needs to be added.  It originally was asking to re-enter password and when I did that I would get the”something has gone wrong screen”.  The ATT agent suggested deleting that account and re add it back.  I did this to 3 email addresses and only by chance have been able to get 2 added back.  My last one I am trying to add. back continually give me the “something has gone wrong” screen.  I have tried doing it with  wi-fi and also turning it off and using the data LTE only, but still can’t get it added.   I am not sure why or what is going on.  It acts like it is trying but then you see at the top …signoff.att.com and it goes back to the “something has gone wrong” screen.  So I have no clue why.  Don’t know what needs to be fixed to get it to work. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the update, @Txstatemom. We have a few other steps we recommend trying in order to get your email working.

To start, we recommend that you try to Create a Secure Mail Key. While most modern apple devices now support OAuth compatability and therefore don't require a secure mail key, older models running on earlier versions of Apple's iOS software may not support it. If that's the case, you can follow these easy steps to create a secure mail key for yourself:

  1. Go to Profile and choose Sign-in info.
  2. Select the email account that needs a secure mail key. (You’ll find a menu at the top if you have multiple accounts.)
  3. Scroll to Secure mail key and select Manage secure mail key.
  4. Choose the email address that you’d like to use, if you have more than one.
  5. Select Add secure mail key and then enter a nickname for the secure mail key to make it easier to recognize.
  6. Choose Create secure mail key.
  7. Select Copy secure mail key to clipboard. Make a note of your secure mail key, so you have it handy if you need to update an email app on several devices.
    • For security purposes, the secure mail key only displays until you select OK
    • If you lose or forget the secure mail key, you can create new secure mail keys.
  8. Select OK.
  9. Go to your preferred email app and replace the existing password with your secure mail key. For an IMAP account, delete the existing password for both the IMAP and SMTP servers and replace them with your secure mail key.

If creating a Secure Mail Key doesn't work, could you let us know if you're able to access your email when using a web browser? More specifically, are you able to sign in using Currently? Currently happens to be our supported webmail service, and knowing if you're able to sign in through other means can help us narrow down what the cause of this issue is.

Let us know how these steps work for you!

Jarod,

I apologize for the length of time it took for me to try your process as shown above.  However, I know I had already created a mail key for this email, but I went ahead and deleted what I had and re-created it again.  I hope that this has not created any issues on the other devices that have already worked properly.  As always the same thing happens again.  It says "Something's gone wrong" and says let's try again.  I notice that when it is accessing the sign in once I have typed in the info, within a few seconds it after the "sign-in" address shows, then it shows "sign-out" address and reverts back to the Something has gone wrong screen.  This issue has only happened on my IPhone 6, on my iPad Pro, it was successful in adding this email address when I had problems and deleted it and re-added it.  So I have know idea what the problem seems to be.  It is frustrating that this keeps occurring.  I have no idea what the next steps are to hopefully fix it. I am perplexed about it.
