accessing a bellsouth email account on an android

I have an old bellsouth email address that was created as a sub account. The primary account holder is no longer active. I am able to access my emails on my laptop via Currently from AT&T but cannot access on my android. I have installed the yahoo app and the AT&T app on my Samsung phone. Neither of the apps allow me to log into my email. I have spent hours trying to unlock the SECRET to doing this monumental task. I am beyond frustrated!! Why does ATT make it sooooooo difficult? Please help

Hey @phantlady, let's get you signed in.

We suggest a password reset. When changing from devices, sometimes a password reset is needed. It'll re-sync your email and get everything freshened up.

  1. Go to your Sign-in info.
  2. Select Change password.
  3. Enter and save your password info.

If this doesn't help, we suggest checking to see if your device is compatible with Oauth. It's AT&T's open authentication security feature, and it's required to log in.

If your device isn't compatible with Oauth, we suggest creating a Secure Mail Key. This will bypass Oauth with a 16 character code.

  1. Go to Profile and choose Sign-in info.
  2. Select the email account that needs a secure mail key. (You’ll find a menu at the top if you have multiple accounts.)
  3. Scroll to Secure mail key and select Manage secure mail key.
  4. Choose the email address that you’d like to use, if you have more than one.
  5. Select Add secure mail key and then enter a nickname for the secure mail key to make it easier to recognize.
  6. Choose Create secure mail key.
  7. Select Copy secure mail key to clipboard. Make a note of your secure mail key, so you have it handy if you need to update an email app on several devices.
    • For security purposes, the secure mail key only displays until you select OK
    • If you lose or forget the secure mail key, you can create new secure mail keys.
  8. Select OK.
  9. Go to your preferred email app and replace the existing password with your secure mail key. For an IMAP account, delete the existing password for both the IMAP and SMTP servers and replace them with your secure mail key.

Please let us know if this helps!
