We were told by ATT that our email password cannot be reset, and we can never get in again. PLEASE HELP!!

My son was trying to reset his email password.  He is now locked out.  He tried resetting online many times to no avail.  He has talked to many people at ATT with no help.  He was told also that I would need to call because I was the account holder.  I did call and got the run around.  Finally, someone was brave enough to tell me the truth....... my son's account was locked and no one, not even himself, could reset it.  Their only suggestion was to forget about the old email address/account and start fresh with a newly created account.  No, no, no.  Not acceptable.  He has had this account for 22 years. His email is associated with his bank and all his creditors not to mention all the other many accounts.  His contacts are all there.  All his saved important documents are in his account.    I was told this change was effective Sept 1, 2022.  Although, researching complaints online, it appears this problem goes back further from this date.  It appears to be a scheme to phase out sbcglobal.net accounts.  Come on!!! It needs to be changed back!  He can answer his security questions.  This is too important and not legal!  Help us PLEASE!

@Cuestayf   Are you not reading what has been posted?  You asked EUREKACATHY if the FCC complaint worked when she clearly indicated it did.  Now you're asking me for help when I posted exactly what to do, including the link to the FCC complaint form.

I'm currently in the exact same scenario. The reset password was sending a code to reset it to an old sbcglobal.net email I no longer have access too. I'm unable to reset the password on the sbcglobal.net email because it says there isn't enough information on file. What they just did was add my other gmail account as the contact so that I can reset my password in sbcglobal.net with a code and get then retrieve the code sent there for my att.net (main email where my whole life is) to reset the password. Here's the kicker: the change takes 30 DAYS to go into effect. I will be without email for 30 days. This is awful and in the past I've just been able to get a temp passcode. I understand fraud concerns but there is really no excuse to not have a workaround to something I REALLY need access to.

OMG! I am going through the same situation right now with my email of more than 25 years.  I'm tired of calling and no one can help me.  Thanks to the fact that I read your problem , I will be able to file a complaint with the FCC.

@dnorman11 Were you able to do this through AT&T directly, or did you have to file a case with the FCC? I just filed a case an hour or so ago and just want to know what to expect.

The simple FCC complaint gets forwarded right to the AT&T exec care team in the Office of the President who will call you.  I've seen some report they got a call the very same day! Maybe they filed early in the day as most report contact the next day.

I hope so! I got the notification that my complaint had been sent from the FCC to AT&T early this morning, so hoping I get the call soon!

SAME THING!! Mine was an Att.net email.  I just filed the complaint with the FCC as stated above, so we will see.  I have been fighting with Att since August.  They will NOT let me speak to a supervisor, or anyone in the US. They read from a script and could care less! Just the run around and them telling me they 'understand' my frustration. HA! Every time I ask for someone in the US they put me on hold and disconnect the call.  This is CLEARLY an FCC violation.
