user has identical worldnet.att.net email to our att.net email

Sometimes get email for a worldnet.att.net user with identical name address as my att.net email usually since a merchant left off "worldnet" so it went to me instead of the worldnet.att.net user so I unsubscribe. But can that worldnet user get my att.net email also? Does att's email system know these are two separate addresses two different users? And can I block worldnet user email address from my inbox without missing emails sent to att.net?

Hello @xenaluna,

We understand your concern and let's help find out what's causing this!

(1) Can the WorldNet user get my http://sm.att.com/67ee3279 email also?

(A) The user won’t be able to receive same email as you, however if u have linked both the email accounts on the AT&T account then it might be possible.

(2) Does att's email system know these are two separate addresses two different users?

(A) You can check this on My AT&T app, for more information please visit our article !

(3) can I block WorldNet user email address from my inbox without missing emails sent to http://sm.att.com/67ee3279?

(A) If it’s a different user then yes you can block, however please check my My AT&T app if its linked then unlink it.

Hi @xenaluna ,We understand your issue, and want to help shed some light on this.

Please note that blocking the user would stop any email, as previously informed have linked both the email accounts on the AT&T account then it might be possible. However, the old address can be retained as an additional email address. We strongly recommend that you don't use the old email address.

Hope this helps! If something else pops up, feel free to reach out to us.

Hi,

Thank you for the response. To be clear we do not know the worldnet user. It's coincidence that the user has the same account name. Based on your answer then it sounds like the worldnet user can't receive our att.net email.

When you suggest checking to see if the worldnet account is linked to ours before we block it, a link would only be possible if we had deliberately linked it, isn't that correct? Which isn't the case since we don't know the worldnet user and would have no reason to link their email to ours. Therefore we can safely assume blocking the worldnet user address won't block any att.net emails either?  Please confirm this. We would like to keep this email address.

Hi Irene,

Not exactly sure what you mean about not using the "old" address. Only the att.net is ours which we intend to keep. The worldnet.att.net email is someone else's.

Our only concerns were that the worldnet user might receive our email, since we receive theirs, which it now seems is not possible if the addresses are not linked in our account which they are not since we don't know the worldnet user. (I suspect the worldnet emails we receive are because senders sometimes leave off the "worldnet" so they went to our "att.net" email instead of the worldnet user.)

The other concern is if we block the worldnet email we would risk blocking att.net email intended for us. As I now understand it there doesn't seem to be any risk of that since we are not linked to this other user's worldnet email.  Thanks
