Unable to sign into Bellsouth.net email!

Problem started in August. I am unable to sign in and/or reset my email password for an email account I have had over 20 years. It is a bellsouth.net account(bought out by ATT) and ATT is no help. Spent over an housr on the phone with them and they refused to help. Unique, customer service manger/super told me that thousands of bellsouth.net accounts are having this issue because ATT servers were hacked and now they are unable/unwilling to help with resetting passwords. Apparently all bellsouth.net emails are at risk of being hacked and are not secure. FIX THIS ISSUE!

I'm moving this thread to the Email forum.

Now that you're in the right forum take a look at the list of posts here and you'll see they're almost all about this.  Apparently AT&T can't fix it since they said they've been trying since June.  🙄

This is an age old problem with bellsouth.net e-mail accounts (I have a couple of them too!).  It was bad before, but is far worse since e-mail was "outsourced" to Yahoo.  When logging in to one of my accounts, I am routinely encountering a challenge that tells me I have exceeded the login attempts, even though I know this is not the case.  The process forces me to change the password, even though I know it has only been a matter of minutes since I logged into and back out of that account.  At least I do have that option.  The login process has been broken for WAY to long but, apparently the "whiz-kids" at Yahoo can't figure out how to fix it or AT&T doesn't care enough to force them to do something about it.

It actually appears to be the "whiz-kids" at AT&T who are unable to figure this out since you don't get handed over to the Yahoo servers until you pass through the AT&T login portal.

Now, the caring part, yeah sure seems like they don't but then again that is par for the course whenever email service and AT&T are mentioned in the same sentence.  They've never cared about it.

All I know is, they need to resolve this issue. I cant reset password because it doesn't recognize my answers, which I KNOW are correct. Stupid ATT could care less! I'm about to drop all of my services with them. Service is poor, customer service is worse and its crazy to pay the exhuberant prices for their apathy!

@Cakky   They're asking you to click the chat icon up in the toolbar to reply to their DM.  It looks like the picture below.  If you only see the icon without the red dot then the DM may have expired and they'll have to send another as they do time out.

My wife is having this exact same issue with her legacy bellsouth.net email address. Her whole family (parents and sibling) were required to reset their passwords. That worked for them, but she is stuck because the same information (last name and billing zip code) is somehow different. She has tried every zip code she and her parents have ever lived at but none work. She has tried her maiden name and current last name, nope. Calling customer service is a circle of nonsense basically telling her to use the website.
