Unable to log into email account although password is correct

I am having trouble for the first time logging into my att/yahoo account ending in sbcglobal.net and tried to get into on another computer I use, and had just checked that the email was correct in my info as my email was up on 2nd computer and now I cannot log in on either one.  The password saved that usually auto loads is not working and the page keeps reloading to put in username and password and then I cannot get in.  First time this has happended to me in over 2 years with same password.

I have this same problem. Happened to me today, too. Not only can I not access my email, (it says my password is incorrect, but I know it is correct), but I also cannot change my password because it says my answers to security questions are wrong. So I'm stuck. Please help!

I haven't been able to log in to my sbcglobal email account via my desktop all day.  Something is wrong with the att.net login function.  Putting in the correct username and password results in an error message saying be sure your username and password are both correct and try again.  I can access the email account on my iPhone.

Is the desktop browser the problem?  Or is it a problem att.net is working on?

I tried to get into my email from 2 different computers and happen to have my email open on one of them.  I changed my prior password earlier after having the issues and now I cannot log in with that password either.  My email is now not working on my cell phone either and despite trying to reset again I am unable to as it is asking for security answers which I answered but they are not working either.  Has something changed with ATT/Yahoo email in past 24 hours as everything was working on phone prior to that?

7/11/19 update:  after 2 full days,  I was finally able to log in to my legacy email accounts via my desktop browser (Edge) tonight.

Glad AT&T finally fixed the webmail browser  with the att.net login problem.  What a mess.

I’m no longer using the yahoo redirect to log in and will use start.att.net from now on.

I changed my AT&T account password and then my sbcglobal.net email stopped working in my MS Outlook.  I re-entered the correct password in the email account settings on the computer but still not working.  The email does work on my phone and when I access my email through Yahoo but not Outlook. Looking for some help.

Hey @jenksptl,

We are here to help with your Email inquiry. We recommend trying out our OAuth to replace your password for an Email client.

Let's first find out if it is a client or Email password issue. Are you able to log into sbcglobal Email through a web browser?

If able to login; is your sbcglobal Email currently linked to your AT&T account?

  • When you did your password reset; it may have reset your sbcglobal Email password as well due to it being considered a main login.

Also double check your Email client settings.

  • We have seen before that sometimes when a password reset; some Email clients have inadvertently changed inbound or outbound settings.

Let us know if this helps.

I can't log into my sbcglobal.net account on my desktop -- have tried Safari, Chrome, and the Mail app. From my very first login attempt (with what I know is the correct password) it says "too many failed login attempts, click 'forgot username' or 'forgot password' for help." I clicked "forgot username," it told me my username is my email address. I clicked "forgot password," it asked me to type in my username and last name, then told me I "didn't have enough information associated with my account" for them to help me, and I needed to call a 1-800 number for help. I called the 1-800 number and the computer-generated operator could not find my account and told me to "visit the website for help." This is the most useless customer service experience I've ever had, and for something as vital as a primary email account?!

Hello @c_e_li12, sorry to hear about your trouble getting back into your account.

It sounds like you were on the right track contacting customer care since the password reset did not work.

You might try checking if chat is an option by going to our Contact page. Other than that, you'd need to call and speak to an agent to get the password reset.

Same problem with pacbell.net email. I have not changed my pw in over a year. My strong pw continues to work via browser but suddenly began failing from my email client. I have made no changes of any kind to pacbell.net settings in my email client. All other email continues to function as expected. Only AT&T stopped working. I have registered the problem via the AT&T service 800 number but zero follow up after days of waiting. Help!
